Thally Hills – Devara Betta, 50 km from Bangalore. Best Place for Sunset View

There’s only one place I want to go, and it’s to all the places I’ve never been to.

I want to fill my life with travel experiences, not things. I want to have endless stories to tell, not stuff to show. The joy of discovery is the single most important thing in my life. With that spirit, I was headed out to find another peaceful place where I can end my day with an energizing sunset view.

If you have read a couple of my previous articles then by now you know I am an Opacarophile. I search for places where I can start my day with Sunrise and end my day with Sunset view. I am always thrilled to go out to new places for this purpose. And going up on the hill always gives a better chance to see the panoramic view.

For ages, motorcycling has been a way of exploring new places with total freedom for people all around the world. Earlier when I had Z800, I used to think twice before going for such an exploration ride. But after picking up the Xpulse I am now more energized to explore.

After quick research on the map, found this place, Devara Betta in Thally. Thally is a town in Denkanikottai Taluk, Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is “Little England” named so by the British during their regime mostly due to its cool weather. I often ride to Thally as I love the tree-covered road from  Thally to Denkanikottai.

Devara Betta means God’s Hill. Its located about 50 km from Bangalore.

I reached the place at around 5 pm. Parked the bike and trekked up the hill. It’s an easy trek. There are proper steps with the railing. It was roughly about 120 steps. First, when I went there, It was a weekday and I was the only one there. Had my “me time” there, shot some photos. Flew the drone and ended my day with mesmerizing sunset view. That was really one of the peaceful evenings that will stay in my memory for a long.

As always, I was excited to take my biker buddies there. We had planned a couple of short rides at Devara Betta from BB. We took Bangalore – Chandapura – Anekal route. The last 5 km the road was not good which I was enjoying on my Xpulse. Recently when I was passing that area, I noticed that the off-road trail is now fully tarred. From Bangalore all the way good road now. You definitely can plan a ride there and you will love it.

You will find small shops in the nearby village on your way, you can buy water and snacks from there.
